History

From 1991-2003, the BJMP had been using the PNP lock-up cell as the municipal jail. It was in 2004 when the Bontoc Municipal Jail was constructed within the Bontoc municipal building. It has a total floor area of 23.21 sq.m and is situated beside the DSWD office. It is a single-celled jail with a comfort room and can accommodate a maximum of six (6) inmates. The first Bontoc Jail Warden was SJO4 Alfred F Facullo. Its logistical support is composed of one (1) 9mm pistol, one(1) steel cabinet, one(1) typewritter and one (1) set computer.

On September 12, 2018 the new Municipal Capitol building was constructed which houses the Bontoc Municipal Jail that located at the upper deck of the basement of Bontoc Municipal Building. At present the jail is manned by 1 BJMP personnel.
